so did you use an aftermarket sending unit also? Sorry if it's posted I just didn't see it.

Do you have this sending unit top on file and ready to cut with a machine or?

The sending unit came with the gauge set and is adjustable for whatever the depth of the tank is. Bottom right:
Image
I just removed the top plate that it came with and made a smaller one that was the same size as the original diameter of the OE sender. That way I could use the original location. I probably could have used the provided top plate and made it smaller but the 5 screw holes were in a bad spot and would need to be welded. It was just quicker and easier for me to make a new one.

Sometimes I feel like a douche because I never update my build thread. I go out to the garage in the morning, hit the key, and drive to work. At the end of the day I hit the key and drive home. Stupid reliable car.

More money for the '35 project. Even made $50 on the deal.

Yea, the 35 project, I want to see that one progress to it's conclusion, that is a great project, I would trade my 47 chevy truck for that one in a heart beat, my truck isn't perfect, but yours is just a different type, that gets a very different reaction from the public in general, I suppose I should get the 53 MGTD I have drive-able for next summer, it will get the same reaction as your 35, but it will never have the power of yours, which might be a good thing.

Wayno, you've got some cool stuff in your collection. You need to do a shop tour thread or something so we can all see your toys.

I could likely get them all out in the street lined up in a row in one day under there own power, but then the neighbors would know how many I actually have, and that would not be a good thing, I live in the city, and usually get my new rigs hidden before anyone sees them, every time I bring one out that has not been out for a while, one of the neighbors says that's a new one, and asks where that one is going to be put, and all I say is that I have had it for a while, and it's going back where it was.

Looks like I might need to order up a new clutch. It's all out of adjustment and never really has been right since my day at the track  .
Honestly, I've never really been happy with the setup. It's always needed just a touch more travel at the slave. Maybe I'll spend some time on Rockauto and see if I can come up with an alternative. I either need a bigger bore master or a smaller bore slave. I don't mind a slightly higher effort pedal.

I ordered up a new 620 disc and a slave cylinder for a '78 510 (11/16" bore) through work. Last night I dropped the transmission out and pulled the clutch. I was surprised to find that the disc wasn't really that worn. Maybe 1/2 way -- maybe.
Image
So it looks like the GM disc that would have been between my GM flywheel and pressure plate might be thicker than the 620 disc that I use. The flywheel is stepped so when I had it resurfaced I had the machinist take an extra .030" off the raised portion. The theory is that it'll increase clamping force.
Image
Image
The other half of the equation is the hydraulic side. I used an 11/16" slave versus the original 3/4". That will give me slightly more throw. Before, I had to have the adjustment absolutely perfect. Otherwise it would either grind between shifts or slip under high load. The extra throw will give me room to play.

Oh, the joys of driving a bastard.

GM engine -> GM flywheel -> 620 disc -> GM pressure plate -> 510 TO bearing -> 620/280Z 5-spd

The Quad4 disc and 620 disc are both 8 7/8" OD.

No. Different part number. Shaft spline count and diameter are different.
