Re: Around Waynos house

I am kinda focused on my telescope right now, it is very frustrating sometimes, you can look at the Moon and it looks perfectly clear, but when you look at the Moon thru the telescope it kinda dances sometimes, and why does it dance, because of heat coming off the telescope mirror itself, because of...

Re: Around Waynos house

Well things have slowed down work wise, I was working on the Datsun U320 but I got this huge telescope and have been messing around with it lately, one of the cats got in it and walked around on the primary/main mirror(it's worth more than I bought the telescope for), it appears that it didn't scrat...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

Well I made it back without getting in a wreck, 255 miles each way and I averaged 68.9 miles per hour, on the way up I figured I was pushing it as I got out late and got there at exactly 12 noon which is what I was shooting for, on the way home everyone else was driving like they were late so i went...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

So the guy that made the steering column grommet asked me for a photo of where this other rubber part goes on the transmission, so I took a photo of that hole and I decided to test fit the column grommet, it was a bitch to get it in there even without the column in place, the material needs to be sl...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I bought a cheap Air Needle Scaler today, I tried it and it seems to work good around captured nuts, corners, and them bead rolled parts in my floorboards to make them stiff, but I only tried it for a couple minutes, I had to leave and repair one of my old customers tile roof because he had someone ...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I just told them what I was doing, where I am scraping the under coat off only scratches are getting to bare metal except where I pointed out the rusty line between the cab and box connection, I sand blasted that line down to bare metal and put POR15 over it, now I understand what POR15 is now, but ...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

If your going to prime bare metal, you should use either etching primer (good), 2 part direct to metal poly primer (better) or epoxy (best), at least that is my opinion. You can buy etch primer in a rattle can but the others need a gun with a big tip as they are *thick*. I don't know what I am doin...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I pulled the tank and fill tube today so I could get above it, I then started scraping away in that area. https://i.postimg.cc/3wSnN9vT/001.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/wxs0xXxC/002.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/L6KvJJnn/003.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/4N6PVX9w/004.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/6pzhbzzv/005.jpg I fo...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I went to the paint store today and talked to them about primer and the undercoating, I bought a half gallon sand-able primer and 2 cans of paintable undercoating, I will use my paint sprayer for the primer, that is no big deal except I will need to cover everything that I don't want over spray on, ...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I have decided that it does have a THIN black layer of paint on the bottom, it is not much and this is hard work cleaning this shit off, to paint it i would still have to sand blast it as that undercoating is not all coming off, it would take hours to sand blast even after removing 90+ percent of th...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I bought this today and started scraping away at the bottom of the cab, it is much easier removing that undercoating with it, but I seem to be wearing the scrapper out fast, I have had to sharpen it up several times over the 2 or 3 hours I used it, but I bought another scraper as I didn't realize it...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I rolled the frame/chassis out of the garage today and pressure washed it, a lot of Australia came out of it. https://i.postimg.cc/65qcmtPQ/019.jpg I then got under the truck and looked around, I found something I did not like, I consider this a design flaw. https://i.postimg.cc/nzTK3PY7/008.jpg htt...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

Well I didn't say anything because I was not sure, but I separated the cab and the chassis today after priming the engine compartment, I was unhappy with chassis stuff in the way while priming, I also noticed the cab was on the chassis crooked, like the wreck it had been in in the past had pushed it...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I removed the steering column this evening, sometimes I think they could have done/designed a lot of stuff better, but this was when they were just starting to import Datsuns to the USA. https://i.postimg.cc/QdH1kWFY/001.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/7Zd7BY7H/002.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Y2L1WFmX/003.jpg...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

this is what I did today after working a half day, I took photos of the wiring and then I almost removed it, I need to either mark the ignition switch wires or just work around it in the engine compartment. https://i.postimg.cc/vmWHThPf/015.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/KzxcMTVV/016.jpg https://i.postimg...
