Re: Around Waynos house

Haven't been in a Baxters in years and years, for similar reasons. Shame, it was once my favorite.

Re: Around Waynos house

I think that would be too much green. Contrasting color looks better.

Re: Around Waynos house

What do you mean "roll it"? See how in the 2nd pic the end of the clip is above and behind the groove. Sometimes the end can be pushed out while the rest stays in the groove causing only partial engagement. Then it gets stuck. Ask me how I know. Sometimes it's helpful to use heavy grease to "float"...

Yes, that's the clip. Careful not to roll it.

Re: Around Waynos house

I still vote for new insulation. Especially if it's only $30.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Any size dent if the PDR guy is good. If he was going to paint it right away he'd probably just push it out from the inside and finish it with a little filler. At this point it's going to keep the red paint for a while. Should actually detail out and look pretty decent -- it's just not the original ...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Yup. Got backed into by a forklift at the last storage location. My brother has been saving it for his paintless dent guy.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Finally put the tire machine and balancer through their paces. https://i.postimg.cc/7Lr7HdRN/20191108-123114.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/tTCs7jNF/20191108-143154.jpg Everything seemed to work fine. Also, the California Special is done and going home in a couple weeks. https://i.postimg.cc/XNBC5V0g/2019...

Re: Around Waynos house

That is a bit odd. Admittedly, I've never worked on one of those. That's just how I usually attack a fwd car. Besides, you'll need a way to get the inner joints to pop back past those C-clips when you go back together. Didn't realize those were so different.

Re: Around Waynos house

I wouldn't expect the joint to come apart on one of those any more than any other CV axle. Duct tape shouldn't matter. This actually seems like an overcomplicated shortcut. Is it possible to pop the knuckle loose and just swing the axle out of the transmission?

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Haha, its a possibility. I'll probably rig a self draining catch can for the time being to limp it for the next few months.
I've been collecting parts for it since I brought it home and was hoping to find time for a bit of restoration this winter. Just hadn't planned on an engine rebuild.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Good tip, wish it was that simple. The oil level is right on and I close the petcock when I park it. Unfortunately, it's 30 years old and has an undocumented billion miles on it. I think its probably just time for a refresh. I'm not really complaining, just inconvenienced.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Honestly, I've done no real diag on this thing...that's just my suspicion at this point. I bought this thing pretty cheap but drove a long way just because I thought it was unique and cool. The seller was up front about the brakes, tires, and carb so I mostly knew what I was getting in to. At first,...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Pretty lame last few days. Been working and chipping away at my basement but mostly sitting on my ass absorbing YouTube ridiculousness. Decided to do a final mow and leaf mulch down in the park. https://i.postimg.cc/jjjNGshK/20191107-105612.jpg Did a little chainsaw work down there too. Looks a lot ...

Re: Grandpa Car

Ran over to my dad's shop today for a prehibernation LOF. Delco filter and Delo400 because that's what my grandpa always fed it. Went looking for the source of the clunk under the seat and found the transducer for the aftermarket cruise control was within bouncing distance of the floorpan. About 8" ...
