Place is looking good. Any plans for the pasture beside raising sage brush ? To bad their wasn't a market for that.

Where the old home stead was, looks like it would be a cool place to hold summer cook outs / BBQ in the evenings with the family / friends and/or a camper. Just needs a place for a honey hut for the women.

and of course the Indian is looking awesome.

Thanks, man. The pasture will likely get sheep eventually. I need to have a conversation with my neighbor about running a separate water line and setting my own pump. As it stands now we have a verbal agreement to share his existing irrigation line. But he's 82 so I'd like something more concrete.
Sheep are supposed to be easier than goats but I've got some fencing to do. Ideally I'd like to offer the land to be used by 4H or FFA students. I'd charge them next to nothing just to offset some of the cost of the water rights and fencing. Basically, I want someone else to do all the work to keep my place green and weed free.
This place had very little in the way of pest weeds when I bought it. The roadbed they hauled in brought all the tumbleweeds. The fill they brought in for the drain field brought goatheads. It'll be a constant fight for years to come.

You're exactly right about the old home site and that's why I plan to maintain it. I'll be putting gravel down where the house used to be (it's already flat and level) and it can be used for an RV spot. Water, septic, and electricity are still there. In fact, the guy who bought the little blue house expressed interest in renting the spot for his 5th wheel in the summer months since he's a snowbird.
It's a great spot for relaxing when the trees fill out and the water is running. Lots of birds and shade. I plan to plant a couple more fruit trees and move some more dirt around. It's gonna be a nice little park when I'm done.

And thanks on the Indian. Little by little I'm getting it dialed. Next major project is getting the saddlebags mounted. Need to get a couple measurements from Jerod's first before I start drilling.

More trailer work today. The tongue pivot was pretty sloppy due to a worn bolt and egged out holes.
Image
I welded washers over the holes through the tongue and frame and replaced the bolt. Also welded up a couple frame cracks I ran across too.

There were no stake pockets on the front so I added them. Picked up some plywood and 2x4s a couple days ago. More to come.

Looks like I forgot to update the trailer. It has sides now. I built them last Saturday, snapped the photo, took them back off and gave them a good slathering of Thompsons Water Seal, then leaned them in the corner. All ready for the swap meet.
Image
I also have a sheet of 3/4" to replace the floor and half gallon of sealer left. I think I want to repaint the trailer first though. Maybe after the swap meet.

Today I aired up the tires and took the Bastard Scrambler for a ride. Man, that thing sounds good! It needs a new home. I probably won't miss it much. But, man, it sounds good!

Then I washed the Indian and went for a ride. I know it's stupid, but I still get a silly grin when I look at it.

Another one of my rides to nowhere. I still love it here.

Is that last photo looking northeast?
I didn't have the money for a bike like that Indian when I rode, and then I burnt out on riding and have not owned a bike since, that was 35 years ago and I still don't miss it, but I have not rode one in a long time, if I did I might get interested again, and I just don't have the room around here to own a bunch of bikes also.

Both photos standing in the same spot but spun 180*. First is looking NE, second is SW. I was about a mile south of the dump directly south of Caldwell and Lake Lowell.

I thought maybe the last photo was looking towards the start of the Rocky Mountains as you cannot see any mountains in the other photos.
I still remember like it was last year flying the Continental Divide in Idaho, that was around 25 years ago.

That's the Owyhees. If i spun 30* to the right I'd be looking toward my house.
I really love living here. If I want to go for a ride I go down my driveway and either turn left or right. When I lived in Hillsboro I'd have to ride at least an hour through traffic before I could start my ride.
This is better.

I rode a Indian back in the late 60's but she didn't have tires. lol

so you off to the PSM this Friday to set up ? good luck on your sales.

Looks like I'm not able to go, got to fly to Indiana to drive back with my grandson.

If you happen to see / talk to people selling early 64 to 67 GTO stuff, if you have the time, to get their contact info. I'm looking for stuff. Thanks in advance.

Headed down Thursday. Looks like rain too, so I'll likely just hunker down in my space. Hopefully it stays dry enough that I can wander around a little.

Spent the last couple days spraying for weeds. They got way out ahead of me last year so I want to do better this year. We've had more showers this year than I remember over the past 2 springs and it's really made everything green in a hurry. The field below the house was little more than bare dirt a couple weeks ago. Now it's about a foot tall.
Image

Rode out to the reservoir yesterday afternoon and it looks about 8' from capacity. Should be plenty of water through the summer.

I'm supposed to be in the air right now but got a message last night that my flight was canceled. Scrambled to make other arrangements but the best I can do lands at 11:30 Monday morning and if I'm lucky I'll see the job site by 1. My flight time went from 7.5 hours to just under 22 and I'll be losing any chance of useful sleep. Plus I'll lose at least 6hrs of billable time.
Fuck you, American Airlines.

Not sure what it is. Leafy with little purple flowers. The previous owner had his horse grazing on it. My plan is to refine the fencing that's there and add more, then get some sheep in there. Same with the smaller area next to the road.
I'll be home briefly next weekend, then gone again, then home for a couple weeks. Hoping to start on the garden spot at that point. I'll be curious to see how the weed killer did while I'm gone.

I really only like Alaskan and Delta airlines.

Everything bloomed around here 1-2 weeks ago. Im most excited for my yellow plum tree. They are so good.

It's been a long time since I've flown Alaskan but all the rest have complicated my life at least once. I have to book all my flights through Honda's travel department and they must have a deal with American because that's who I usually end up with. Last trip was 6 flights on 3 different airlines.
My gripe about this trip is that I'll be flying through the night (almost certainly not sleeping) and missing most of a work day. Aside from the inconvenience it'll cost me about $400 in lost time. Plus the extra 14 hours of travel time. Whatever...workin' man's blues.

Fly long enough over time and I’m sure every airline will have some sort of screwup that will affect you. As long as it doesn’t happen while in the air, I’ll deal with it.

Yup. On that note, we backed away from the gate in Boise and there was a series of flickering cabin lights. Pilot came on to explain he had to shut down #2 engine and restart it due to some error message. There were many concerned faces. But we made it to Phoenix.

think the purple flowers are called lily of the Nile, but of course this is just a wild guess since I'm not able to see it up close.

I tilted my garden up yesterday cause sunflower plants are popping up. My wife was told by a older lady that sunflower plants seem to know when theirs not going to be any more frost. I've been going by that thumb of rule for 2 years now and so far it's true. Got my Walla Walla's onions in 2 weeks ago. Hope they take cause this is my 3rd attempt, fingers R crossed.

have a safe flight, pic's if you can. Az is pretty this time of the year.
