I have an L18e intake coming to me in a couple weeks. If I can track down an L20b block what head would be best for a turbo open or closed then for pistons flat top or dished??

Compression depends more on how much boost you plan to run. 9:1 with under 10psi would be safe. Find a combo that gets you in that area. Turbos make up for a lot of flow deficiencies.

L Twenty B? I know they drop right into an L18 and lower the compression.

I think the l18 pistons are 4 cc I think, l20b is close to 12cc.
L18, with open chamber head, l20b pistons, and 1mm headgasket is 7.77 to 1 compression
idk what the magic ratio is, before boost.

just thinking, maybe use 280zxt pistons since they should have the correct dish but I am sure the block would have to be bored even if using an L20b block. Then I am sure a cam oil spray bar would be useful also

You only need the spray bar if you get a solid cam . Zx pistons will have the wrong compression you could use sr20det pistons

A stock L20B has a static compression of 8.5:1 with a U67 head. If your going to put any serious boost to it you will at least want forged pistons. The L28 turbo pistons are 1mm over and will bring your static compression to 8.7:1. If your going to be pushing past the 10 pound point, you may want to think about O-ringing the block.

5 lbs of boost will take you static of 8.7 and turn it to about 11.6.
Turbo's are cool. I have been reading some and really want to play with it on my truck down the road.
