So, who knows something about driveshaft lengths?

Are 4sped 4door shafts the same as 4spd wagon shafts?

510 4 speed 26.1"
5 speed long tail is 31.5

Drive shaft will have to be shortened 5.4 inches if you use a wagon drive shaft with a 5 speed long tail in a wagon.

The stock 2dr and 4dr sedan driveshaft is 42 & 9/16th or 42.5625"
The stock goon is 48 & 7/8ths or 48.875

The shortened goon driveshaft for a 71b longtail should be 43.475"

The difference between a properly shortened wagon drive shaft and a stock sedan drive shaft is .09125" difference.

less than an inch difference. so, if you wanna make a 510 wagon a long tail 5 speed, find a sedan drive shaft. or use a dogleg transmission and you won't need to dick with drive shafts. It can be done, and has been many o times already.

There's your lesson for the day :D

Thank you. So we'll have to source a wagon shaft or have one made. It's going into a wagon with a 4 speed, and the only driveshaft we have a line on right now is a 4 door shaft.

Oh, my bad. Thought you were putting a long tail in a wagon. Either way, guess it answered that

My Datsuns, like good friends, have never let me down. At least in any way that was not understandable and thus fixable.
