Re: Jacob's goon build
No, I mean, actually fabricating it. As I have to make clearance for the crossmember and rack. And I cant lift the engine high enough in car to squeeze the pan in and out. So that means a lot of lowering the rack.... which the engine is bolted to.. Fun times ahead. And Yes, the real answer is to do ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!
Have you tried a bolt through it?
I have to be honest. A 17/32 bolt is the weirdest size ever to find on a car, I cant even find a result on google... M13.5 is the same size, and at least is a thread used on guns...

Thanks David! And for tonight, I managed to get the bracket for the steering shaft stabilizer done. https://bl3302files.storage.live.com/y4m0HCG3jUVRiJviMhc9QrY2gO8ue0JdA_uUqjP8a2VvYG-1TwQ09wgSEt4GjpA2k2_ubxlPwjjWKsw4npEIH0p23CQ38Od12owQIXAqHuxX31x9jIju5vLDQ_k8ulmz9PPiNOTP9AkCcMYsvTfU9EcZ9jkoB9rPYQE...

Re: Jacob's goon build
I think this was more technique than anything. I still have more power on the welder to give it. Some spots it laid some beautiful welds. I think if I would have had the crossmember vertical, it would have been easier to weld. Its also a problem of welding on vertical surfaces vs horizontal. Ill def...

Have a drill press? You can probably figure out a way to strap the axle shafts to it, and at minimum with some calipers you can at least reference off the table or something how much material you have ground off.

Looks like a Yukon Clutch LSD. Let me know how that works out, thats the one I am leaning towards.
Ive installed a Yukon clutch LSD in a 04 step side chevy, Didnt need to do anything, everything lined up perfectly.

That is pretty good looking.
I think the Dana 44 I have is out of a wagoneer. Need to measure some things to confirm.

Re: Jacob's goon build
Thanks MIG is amazing. Really wish I could do aluminum. But that is what I have friends and work for... Well I disappeared for the weekend. And the axle in the garage takes up some space. But I did manage to get the whole thing tacked together. Engine mounts will be tacked on once I have it in the c...

Yea, It's Dutchman 100% of the way. Professional website means they spent money there. Dutchman still has line cards. They are old school cool. Pirate4x4 is fairly NW central, and Dutchman is all I ever see any of them going with for the average Joe.

Re: Jacob's goon build
I have had a rack in the car for a long time. But last year when I finally got it down on the ground, the rack moved. Laterally. Looked scary. But boy is it easy to turn even stopped. I did something right. I should also say, I haven't changed any of the geometry from my previous setup. The problem ...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.
I would make the winch quick release, then take it off when you dont need it there/keep it out of the elements/ maybe use it for other things... But thats just me.
I actually thought about using one of those winches to turn into a motor for a cart to haul stuff around the property.

Re: Jacob's goon build
To start things off, I found a tool on Youtube. If you are doing any metal fabrication, you need one of these things. Put nice even chamfers on parts, put heavy chamfers in for weld prep. Its tiny, and all over Amazon from $50 to $90. https://bl3302files.storage.live.com/y4m0RLbKXt9e6F0FriB2Wo5nvN1U...
