I actually did something. More to follow this week though.

First up, the differences on the motor stands. I didnt like the original ones because a washer of the engine mount was really really close to the stand, and it should be fully isolated.

Made it a tad wider.



Here you can see I modified the through hole to be an oval instead of just circular.

And just a reminder of what the mounts are. Poly universal engine mounts, and fully isolated.



I finally got my new lower oil pan back. Got the trap doors installed as well. Here you are looking at the front. Also, the drain plug is a M20x1.5 pitch. This one should actually drain.



DOORS! the small one at the back has a limiter so there is no way it can interfere with the side doors.

Hey HRH, I know I talked about your choice of cams, but I recent had a purchase, because these havent been available for a long time (years).


I got some Tomei USA 258 duration poncams (as in, direct replacement without need for changing anything out in the head).

These are both 258 duration, and 8.5mm lift. Stock is, Intake: 240 duration, 7.8mm lift. Exhaust: 248 duration, 8.5mm lift. These will not be installed until after I get the engine broken in.

Also, it took Amazon 3 tries at shipping this. The first one got to the local hub and disappeared. The second one got to the local hub, and then something happened and it got marked as undeliverable... I was supposed to have this Wednesday last week.

I got a new thing. A fan shroud! and a Spal fan!

Got it mounted to the radiator, had to drill and tap the holes for the screws. M5x.8 because metric.

The unit is nice and slim and has speed holes. I did just buy it from the Griffin, the radiator company.

Haha, no. I love that picture though. I think that car either lives in NY or BC Canada. My car is also more white, I painted it Subaru white.

More progress! And progress that wasnt just like lego bricks...

Onto the gas tank.

First things first, I wanted to add a baffle. Hearing over the years about people using the stock wagon tank, most say they dont have too much issue until 1/4 tank, and then its really only on acceleration. The wagon tank pretty much already has a sump on the right side, but it ramps up towards the back, not ideal for keeping fuel at the deepest point. So I decided to make a simple wall for a baffle. Hopefully this is sufficient.




Next up, I decided to clean up the opening I had made years ago. That was really a terrible job, I did it with a sawzall to avoid sparks... Anyways, pulled out my new favorite tool for this kind a weird stuff. My laser level!




Some quick angle grinder cuts, and a touch up from the right angle grinder, and it looks way more fresh and ready to accept the next part of tank mods.




All of this was the start to the in tank pump. Back in November 2021 I bought a universal fuel pump hanger assembly. https://fitechefi.com/product/go-fuel-u ... e-340-lph/

Anyways, as with anything that comes as a kit, I like 90% of the kit, but not the other 10%. It came with a ring that you threaded screws into to make them act like studs inside the tank. Not into that. So I remade it out of steel. Basically now I have a nut plate. Tapped to M5x.8






And that is where I left off. Took awhile to make the template for the baffle (and lots of scraped arms), and making that nut plate took me like twice as long as it would have if I would have done it at work.

Also, the two tools with the most hours today, the Milwaukee M12 right angle die grinder, and the Lathe. Man that die grinder is so perfect, its so fast, and easy to use, no air hose to drag around, and it just works. If you have any metal fab that you do, buy one!

Nicely done! I hacked the top out of an old S10 tank and grafted it in roughly the same spot. That let me use common GM parts house pumps. I didn’t even think ahead enough to add a baffle. Mine probably wasn't quick enough to need it as I never noticed any starvation issues.

Thanks! I was originally planning an OEM unit from something, but the few times I looked at them in the JY I didn't think it would be easy to swap over. I just don't know a lot of different setups out there, so aftermarket it was. I actually found this brand through Youtube.

Yea that one! I have 2 angle grinders, 1 with a cutoff blade, and the other is flapper disc duty. I almost don't touch the flapper disc angle grinder anymore.




Did a small bit of progress. Oi, cut 4 pieces of metal, only 2 fit... Quickly cut 1 more and it worked, but then its kinda late on a Sunday. Its looking decent though, not welding it in yet.

Anyways, I got a new part in. Its how I am going to have many gauges in the car without the interior looking like its some 90s JDM import with 5 A pillar gauges.
