ID this brake master cylinder?
Re: ID this brake master cylinder?
Sure, someone could have put that master on a 520/521, but it did not come on a 520/521 from the factory as far as I know.

I get that may not be a 521 pictured.
But-my 521's MC looked exactly like that.
Line pointing down. Bleeder on top.

Never seen one pointed down, and I have parted out a lot of them over the last 5 years, all the replacements I have bought are also pointed up, but these trucks are old, you buy what's available at the time.

This is my 521 work truck.

This is the one that was on my 1969 521 before I went with a 620 dual master.

I did not buy anything new either, but they all have looked the same, clutch and brake master lines coming out the top, and I don't recall them having a bleeder.

You know that I have said before that no two datsuns were ever put together the same, I was of the opinion that whoever showed up for work that day put it together the way he thought it should be, the early 720s were the worst, there was always something different on every one of them.

Re: ID this brake master cylinder?
Follow-up:
The car is a 72 510. It's not the original master though. The guy said he got it from someone that claimed it to be from a truck.
He honestly doesn't care, he just needs to know what to replace it with when he goes to buy another one. It's possible its from an SSS.. his engine is an L18 SSS engine.
The guy that owns it is an old school 510 guy. He's not a computer guy at all. A rebuild kit might be just as good.
Thanks for all the input.

Re: ID this brake master cylinder?
I've solved the mystery.
The master is a Nismo single reservoir unit. PN: 46010-N0110

Re: ID this brake master cylinder?
That would explain the newer style reservoir.
My Datsuns, like good friends, have never let me down. At least in any way that was not understandable and thus fixable.
