A series auto exhaust

Alright..

What's your guys ideas and thoughts on A series automatic exhausts?

Current is a stock exhaust. with standard muffler. Car is nice and quiet... Hoping for something a little more... awesome.

Current plan of action.. I am going to throw some kind of tip on there to make it look moar cool coming out the back of the car.. Anyone have a tip for exhaust? I don't want some fart can type shit.. I know you've all hard an automatic honda with a fart tip installed... Sounds like ass thru all gears.. Is there something a little more cool than stock but doesn't sound "mommy got me an automatic honda and i put a walmart exhaust on it" muffler?

A chunk of metal flew off a trailer and upgraded my exhaust when I first got my wagon. Didn't sound half bad for an auto at the moment.

I was thinking a pipe that starts off about 2" or whatever... then gets a little bigger... slightly pointing up

Wish I knew more about muffler theory. I do know you can make one with baffles and be near silent, but it's only tuned for one RPM range. Some absorb the sound with fiberglass packing. The rest simply slow the explosive pulse down and spread it out.

So what would happen if you ran a much larger muffler like from a V8? Larger everything... inlet/outlet and larger dimensions.

I had an '82 GrandPrix with just the cat, no muffler at the back. Sweet sounding idle (deep rumble) and quiet enough to drive.

What does position do? Some old Fords had the muffler behind the rear wheels and just an elbow pointing down out of them. Is it quieter with some tailpipe? Does it sound sweeter if way to the rear wihtout a pipe?

I have always liked the sound of a resonator under the car like right under the seats or rear floor, and then a turbo muffler out back. Resonator helps to keep the raspy sound out,

I cut one from a 710 once. It was almost see through a very slight S shape inside with tiny 'hood scoops' or louvers cut into the inside pipe. Looked like a vegetable grater

A muffler is a fire arm silencer, it only gives the exaust room to expand, slowing it down and reduceing the pulse pitch. There are alot of ways to achieve it. Ive ran huge truck mufflers on an l20b and it seemed louder than the stock exaust, and ive ran resenators that where quiter that the stock muffler.
I dont know why, I do know that a glass pack sounds better to me the further back it goes.

Every one likes different things. I would like a deep throaty idle but for driving nothing to harsh.

I drove a Corvette with the vacuum operated gate that directs some of the exhaust around much of the mufflers. Or removes much of the muffler? When you get on it it gets loud. A very pleasant bark. Good for 35 hp at top end. Only a $1,500 option. :fuu:

Drove a '13 Cobra Super Snake. When 'on it' you can't hear someone beside you. Outside at idle is quite (not quiet) loud.

This is my favorite combo for quiet at idle and most driving, but really get on it and it makes a good sound. Also doesn't hurt it is super cheap to do too.

my B runs straight pipe with a 14" resonator. Perfect sound. raspy at idle, not to bad driving at speed, sounds effing amazing when you get on it and switch gears 4500-5000k rpm. That's it's braaap range. Hit 45-5000 and switch gears... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAP.
