Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Well, there seems to be a little progress on this now. I have purchased the LS1/4L60e that I mentioned a couple posts ago. Now I just need to find a suitable block to install all the LS1 goodies on. Pic of hole before I started cleaning, I bet somebody at the local self serve car wash would like to ...

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Might have located some parts I was not planning on buying. Complete LS1/4L60e car getting parted local to me with a hole in the block. I am thinking that the LS1 intake and heads just might get installed on a 6.0 block. Update pics. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee318/JKLookabill/Mobile%20Uplo...

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Keeping it completely stock or doing a cam/intake swap? Thats a tough call right now. I really want to do the cam/intake while the motor is out, but on the other hand, I kinda want to leave it alone and see if I can achieve the 20+ mpg's that people are claiming with the LS motors. What I really wa...

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Don't make us wait. What's the planned combo? Hoping to find a L33/4l60 combo. The L33 is an aluminum block/head 5.3. Would like to shave that extra weight off the front of the truck. But, I just might settle for any generic 5.3/4l60 combo to keep the project rolling. I can always upgrade to a 6.0 ...

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Just took a deposit on the motor in my truck, will get it pulled this weekend. Didn't get beat up on price either.

I guess I am going to learn the ways of the LS motor now. Really looking forward to fuel injection again, and hopefully better fuel mileage.

Re: Projects from THE COMPOUND!

Nice work, I like the vise attachment and the wheels for mobility. I am betting that it will have a vise mounted in it about 95% of the time though.

I need to make myself something like this to get my vise in a better location.

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

That motor is clean. Glad to see you here Jason and an update! When you planning on dumping the LS in it? Well this motor still runs great and the trans still works in 1st and 2nd, so it can still be test driven by a buyer. It will be like that for a few weeks unless it sells. I'm going on vacation...

Re: Yello620's new build project. 68shortfleet

Update time.... Major change coming to this project soon. Third gear is gone in my TH350. Actually I think it is a valve body issue as it will shift into third, but won't stay in third. I'm not going to have a non-overdrive trans rebuilt. The motor is currently on Craigslist while it can still be te...

Your sure doing an awful lot of work to that shop to be leaving it behind in the next couple of years.

I didn't realize that I drive right past your place everyday that I work.

Re: Jesters VG 620

Jes, I ran across a Z31 gear reduction starter in my leftover VG parts stash the other day. Thought it might interest you.

It would not clear the torsion bars in my application, Might fit perfectly if they are gone and coil-overs are installed.

Re: Jesters VG 620

Jes, I did end up using ceramic coated SX manifolds.

I do still have a pair of pathy manifolds if you are interested in them. I also have spare SX intake and exhaust manifolds---just in case. :D

Re: Weber won't idle - car dies with no gas

Tim, you mentioned that you cleaned the idle mixture screw and hole, but did you clean the idle jet on the side of the carb? Clean that... Once you get it to idle, generally the main reason that a weber will not idle below 1000 is due to a vacuum leak, but not always. Sometimes it is just adjusted w...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

I need them both rebuilt by someone that knows what they are doing. Wayno, I had a carb rebuilt about 18 years ago by Savas Tuning in Milwaukie. They did excellent work, that same quadrajet carb is still on my Landcruiser and runs excellent. It was not cheap to get rebuilt back then, but it has bee...

Re: 1962 Datsun U320

Wayno, the reason you can't find Weber markings on that carb is because it is NOT a Weber. It is a Mikuni, similar to a Weber but not the same. I believe that they share the same bolt pattern to the manifold, but that is about it. Pretty sure Mikuni has been out of business since the 90's too, parts...

Re: 1965 & 1966 520 Single Haed Light H4 Upgrade

I installed the 7" Hella headlights(without relays) with the standard 55/60 bulbs that come in the kit into my 68 C10. Within 5k miles both headlight connectors were completely melted. Just last week I installed replacement connectors and put them on relays too. Relays are easy, should have done it ...

C'mon Wayno, be realistic. What do you really need a heater for in that truck. Its not like you are going to drive it in the winter.

Re: Any AFX slot car fans, look here

I still have my original track from childhood. Have both original cars to the kit too. Added a few extra cars to it a few years ago even though I haven't set the track up in years.

At the right price, I would add more to my little collection, but I don't see a price in your thread yet....
